<p>Dear Members,</p>
<p>Our meeting last Monday involved a great discussion about our donations.  This year the Club raised over $25,000!!  Karen Reynolds and her committee reviewed all the requests this year and compared that to prior year donations.  They all put a thought and work into this process – and we truly appreciate it.</p>
<p>The scholarship committee, chaired by Pat Bigger, has decided on the five scholarship recipients.  The announcement of the recipients will be made on June 4<sup>th</sup> at the awards ceremony at the High School.</p>
<p>There remain openings in the Boards and Committees for next year.  We have found chairwomen for the dances, wine tasting, egg hunt (a new committee), yearbook, and senior luncheon.  We still need a <em>President,</em> <em>President-Elect</em>, <em>Publicity</em> and for the <em>Bowling Fun Night</em> (this event will not take place unless someone organizes it).  Many people are willing to help on each committee, but we need someone to organize the groups.</p>
<p>Although the Club continues to be a success and continues to donate to worthwhile causes and needs in our neighborhoods – we need help.  We run several fun family events every year and they are treasured within our community.  We have a few new members who have immediately stepped up to get involved in our events – but we need more of our membership to find time to get involved in at least ONE event/committee.  Please give it some thought.</p>
<p>The yearend dinner has been set for <strong><em>June 15<sup>th</sup></em></strong> at Sally Schiller’s home at 150 Lincoln Street at 7 pm.  This year will have a more relaxed atmosphere and we hope that many will attend.  Since this event will be catered, we need everyone who wishes to attend to buy a ticket on line or mail a $25 check to Sally Schiller to help pay for the event.  It will be a fun night to celebrate the success of the club and kick off the summer!  I look forward to seeing everyone there!</p>

<p><strong>Seeking Volunteers to  Join Turkey Trot Committee </strong></div>

<div>It’s  never too early to start planning. In order to make this year’s Turkey  Trot a success, we need your help. Please consider volunteering to  assist with sponsorship, advertising, registration or race day  logistics. If you have volunteered in the past or have participated in  the run/walk you know this is a fun community event that attracts people  of all ages. Please help make this year a memorable one. If you are  interested in volunteering or learning more, please contact the race  coordinator Jill Donelan <a href="mailto:jillmarie.donelan@gmail.com" target="_blank"><span style="color: #0000ff;">jillmarie.donelan@gmail.com</span></a>. In  addition, if you or someone you know would be interested in sponsoring  the event pass their name and information along. We are looking for  monetary contributions, goods, and/or services.</div>

<p>Dear Members,</p>

<div>A big “Thank You” to Pat Bigger for hosting our  April meeting, and thank you to Karin Gilmartin for filling in for me  and running the meeting. Several important items were discussed.</p>
<p>The recap of the Bunny Breakfast showed the event  earned a whopping $1,081! This exceeded the budgeted amount of $800 –  thank you for all the hard work put into the organization by both  Jessica Chase and Sara McCullough. The Norwell Recreation Department  held their final Egg Hunt right after the breakfast. At this last  meeting there was much discussion about whether or not the NWC should  continue this tradition of the Egg Hunt. There seems to be a consensus  that we should continue this fun and community oriented event. As with  any event, however, WE NEED VOLUNTEERS! We need someone to sign up to  chair a committee for the breakfast, and another to chair a committee  for the egg hunt. It seems that the community loves the event – but we  need everyone to help out. Please let me, or one of the Board Members,  know if you would be willing to chair these wonderful events.</p></div>

<p>The recap of the Fashion Show was preliminary due  to the fact the meeting took place only two business days after the  Show. It was an amazing night – I hope everyone was able to make  it. Thank you so much to Heather Creel and her committee members who  worked tirelessly to make this event a night to remember! It was not  only a large fundraiser for our club but also a different, fun, stylish  and enjoyable evening. We will have the final figures soon to discuss  with our donations committee and membership.</p>
<p>Our donations committee, head by Karen Reynolds  will be meeting soon to discuss a direction for the funds we have raised  this year. Please make sure any requests for donations have been  submitted.   Pat Bigger will also be meeting soon with her scholarship  committee to make decisions on the recipients of the NWC awards.</p>

<p>Our year is wrapping up and we need to focus on  next year.  The thought has been introduced to perhaps have one of the  large events each year – so as to not burn out our supporters (both  financially and the volunteers). Perhaps we should re-introduce the wine  tasting next year and take a break from the fashion show? No year’s  schedule is cast in stone – please consider volunteering and heading up a  new event, or taking on one of the traditional ones. It is very  rewarding being a volunteer and giving of your time and energy to  support the wonderful causes the NWC has supported for years.</p>
<p>The May meeting is scheduled for Monday night,  May 17<sup>th</sup> at the Norwell Middle School at 7:30 pm.  Please  join us for this final meeting to discuss our donations for the year and  our plan for next year.</p>

Next Meeting </strong><br />

<p><strong>Youth Dances</strong><br />
The  next Middle School dance is on May 21st from 7:30 &#8211; 10:00 pm at the  Town Hall.  Please contact Diane Daly at <a href="mailto:diane.daly@comcast.net" target="_blank">diane.daly@comcast.net</a> or Dianne Malloy at <a href="mailto:dimalloy@yahoo.com" target="_blank">dimalloy@yahoo.com</a> if you can chaperone.  The dances  remain one of the club&#8217;s major fundraisers, and much help is needed for  their success. Please also encourage your friends who have 7th and 8th  graders that their help is always welcome.   Thanks in advance for your  help!</p>

<p><strong>Norwell  Knoll</strong></p>
<p>It has been a tradition for many years for members of  the Norwell Women&#8217;s Club to provide snacks on the first Monday morning  of each month to the residents of the Norwell Knoll on Washington Street  for a coffee social.   Since we are no longer able to provide our own  baked goods per order of the Health Department, the Women’s Club  provides funding each month to Micci Fitsgibbons to purchase and deliver  the baked goods.  <strong>Please note that Micci is looking for a volunteer  to take this minimal commitment assignment over for next year.<br />

<strong>The  Closet</strong></p>

<div>Looking for volunteers to work in the Closet on  May 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th and June 3rd, 10th, 17th, and 24th.  The  Closet is located at the Town Hall 3rd floor and is open on Thursdays  from 2 &#8211; 3:30.  Please contact Micci Fitzgibbons (<a href="mailto:miccifitz@aol.com" target="_blank">miccifitz@aol.com</a>)  or Chris Gillis (<a href="mailto:seagirley@aol.com" target="_blank">seagirley@aol.com</a>)  to sign up.</div>

Please indicate if you would  like to run the announcement/item just that once or several times  leading up to the event (I can usually tell by what it is). Should you  want something to be included on the cable channel, please do the same.  For other publications (e.g. Patriot Ledger), include the appropriate  email address for submission.</p>

<p>The Festival of Trees celebrates the joys of the holiday season and supports the care given by Cranberry Hospice. Come see over 50 trees, uniquely decorated by talented individuals or groups from local communities. As you enter the Festival, you are greeted by a 15 foot giant, the Tree of Lights, whose candles glow in memory or in honor of loved ones. Stroll among the remaining trees while you enjoy the varied entertainment, make a wish with Santa or purchase a butterfly to benefit the Children’s Bereavement Program. Before you leave, make sure to stop in our delightful gift shop. Choose something as a memento of your day, reminding you that your contributions to the Festival of Trees go directly to patient care and the Children’s Bereavement program of Cranberry Hospice.<img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-267" title="NWC-tree-Sports-for-Needy-2" src="http://norwellwomensclub.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/NWC-tree-Sports-for-Needy-2-225x300.jpg" alt="NWC-tree-Sports-for-Needy-2" width="225" height="300" />In the 19 year history of the Festival of Trees, the Friends of Cranberry Hospice have donated over $1,500,000 to Cranberry Hospice to provide hospice services to patients and families in the fourteen communities of Carver, Duxbury, Halifax, Hanover, Hanson, Kingston, Marshfield, Norwell, Pembroke, Plymouth, Plympton, Sandwich, Scituate, and Wareham.</p>

<p>Join us Friday, January 29th 7:00pm &#8211; 11:00pm at the newly renovated Boston  Bowl in Hanover.  The $40 per person price will include 2 strings of Tenpin  Bowling (Big Balls), Shoe rental, Pizza &amp; Appetizers and a <span style="text-decoration: underline;">lot</span> of  fun!  Cash Bar with Beer &amp; Wine.  Prizes will be awarded to the winning  teams along with the highest scoring Male and Female bowlers of the evening.   Tickets will be on sale at the Holiday Meeting this Thursday.  They can be  purchased individually or as a team (6 bowlers).</p>
